Friends of the Band

If you don’t play a brass instrument – don’t worry! We still very much welcome your support as a Friend of the Band. As a Friend of the Band you’ll receive a regular newsletter detailing Band and its activities, whilst also being entered into our prize draws that run throughout the year to win £50-00 and a bonus ball scheme that is drawn in December. On top of this you will receive preferential entry to our concerts as well as a concert dedicated to all our Friends.Operating Brass Bands is an expensive exercise. Running costs include music, upkeep and replacement of instruments, uniforms, conductor’s fees and transport. To do this we need the help of all our friends and supporters.

To achieve this the “Friends of the MacTaggart’s Band” scheme was set up in January 1995. Many friends and supporters have joined and we hope that more will do so in the future. The annual membership is £15-00 and may be paid in one lump sum or by installments throughout the year. All proceeds from the Friends of the band scheme are shared between the two Bands.

While we thank you for your continued support, we also need more “Friends of the Bands”, so please encourage all of your friends and relations to join the scheme. Get in contact and we’ll send you a membership form:

Band Subs

We ask that all members of the band over the age of 18 in employment pay ‘Subs’ of £10 per month. This covers many things from instrument servicing, buying sets of music, player registration, attendance at competitions as well as the general running of the band.

The easiest way to pay is by setting up a standing order directly to the Bands account. Please contact the Band Treasurer for the details.

As a small charity we rely on donations from the community. This can take many forms, from a monetary donation, through to donation of instruments or equipment as well as time spent helping man our stalls at events. If you feel you can help us then please get in contact, we would love to hear from you!
