Mark Bell



The Senior Band is delighted to be working with Mark Bell. Mark was brought up in West Lothian, starting on Trombone at the age of 10. He quickly progressed into Kepston QFab Whitburn Brass, taking the Principal Trombone chair at the age of 15, He also played 1st Trombone with the West Lothian Schools Brass Band, winning two British and a European title in his time there.

Upon leaving school, Mark attended Salford University, studying trombone under Andrew Berryman (Halle Orchestra) and conducting with Dr. Roy Newsome, starting his conducting career with University Wind Ensemble. He also played with the sadly now defunct BT Brass Band and Wingates Band.

Since graduating in 2001, Mark has conducted several Bands including Newlands Concert Brass, whom he led to the British Championships in 2004, Broxburn & Livingston Brass Band, Shotts St. Patricks, Lochgelly, Edinburgh University Brass Band, the Edinburgh Wind Orchestra and Selkirk Brass Band
